Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen® and launched the global breast cancer movement.
The San Diego Affiliate of Susan G. Komen opened its doors in 1995. Since that time, Komen has continued to fund San Diego County’s largest program of free breast cancer treatments, services and support.
These dollars are raised through the efforts of San Diegans participating in many special events and fundraisers held year-round. The largest fundraiser is the Komen San Diego Race for the Cure® set for Sunday, November 2, 2014.
Jerome’s is a major sponsor of Komen’s activities in San Diego. Support of the Komen Foundation is especially close to the hearts of the Navarra family as both of Jerry’s sisters are Breast Cancer Survivors.
Jerome’s sponsors the annual Komen walk in San Diego and also a unique fundraising opportunity for those that do not want to actually walk. It’s called Sleep in for the Cure and it allows participants to sign up, receive a t-shirt, and they get to sleep in the morning of the race to raise money to find a cure.
Walkers, runners, or sleepers are all needed! Jerome’s is proud to work closely with Komen to help locals suffering from breast cancer.
Adrienne Navarra “Both of my aunts were diagnosed with breast cancer, and both are survivors. This is a cause that is near and dear to our entire family and frankly most families in the community”
